The Texas AgrAbility staff members work with farmers, ranchers, primary caregivers and health-related professionals in identifying problems and solutions. Staff members provide technical assistance, make referrals and arrange for on-site visits. The goal is to help disabled farmers and ranchers continue to be productive in their agricultural operations.

Texas AgrAbility also works with the Texas Rehabilitation Commission to find financial resources for an individual's special technology needs.

The AgrAbility program provides service in the following three areas:

• Technical Assistance: Determine the special technology needs and provide assistance through on-site visits to farmers and ranchers with disabilities and their families. During onsite visits, the staff member, client and family members work together to assess the nature of the diability and consider the benefits of additional vocational skills; correct problems associated with farm/ranch accessibility, maintenance and management, and the limitations of equipment and machinery; and review the family financial situation.
  
  
• Professional Training: Train agricultural, rehabilitation and health professionals to assist persons with disabilities in agriculture.
  
  
• Information Dissemination: Educate people at agricultural and health-related events about the capability of persons with disabilities to work productively in agriculture. Provide information and resources to disabled clientele and other individuals.
