Background The Texas AgrAbility Project is a part of the National AgrAbility Program begun with the 1990 Farm Bill. AgrAbility grants are awarded to select Cooperative Extension Services on a competitive basis. These grants require the Cooperative Extension Services based at land-grant universities to join with nonprofit disability organizations to educate and assist agricultural workers with disabilities and their families. The Texas Agricultural Extension Service and the Resource Center for People with Disabilities, an affiliate of Warm Springs Rehabilitation Foundation, received grant funding in July 1998. With this funding, the Texas AgrAbility Project began service to Texas farmers and ranchers with disabilities. |
